{Wacky Wednesday} Organizing and using a “jail”

{picture from photobucket – not my actual box – but very representative of it!}

The new year always makes me want to organize more, better, again, etc.  Does it do that do you?

Something I just started this year was I created a “jail” basically a place to put everything I think I want to get rid of but am not ready to take the plunge yet.  For instance – At the beginning of January I reorganized my utensil drawer in my kitchen. We have more kitchen tools and gadgets than anyone could possibly need – and I am beginning to realize that (finally)!  So I took the things I thought we were not using and put them in a box in the garage – it has been over a month since I did this, and I have only gone out to get one item from the box. The rest is going to goodwill the next time we go.

I am going to do this with some digital supplies as well as they seem to multiply and I don’t go back in to use them later.

Want to get something organized?  Here are a few resources from around the web that might help you:

{Project Life} Week 6 & Digi Link Up

Happy Valentine’s Day!  Sorry I didn’t post on Friday or Monday – it skipped my mind that it was my turn to post!  I do have my new products that came out this past week down below for you to see though!

Each year I think I am going to have a grand plan and do all kinds of fun things for the kids and hubby but I never do! I did get them a few presents (clothes for the girls & coupons for dad) but that is as far as I went.

Have been to work 3 times – I survived!  Actually it was quite enjoyable, my patience was much better and I really felt like I was able to make a difference.

Now onto why you are here – Project Life. I just love seeing everyone’s pages – a little peek into your life! I didn’t get started early this week, I did it tonight – but I love the collage pictures I added in. They are templates from Designs by Lili (I could have created them myself but decided it would just be easier to buy them – since this project is all about making memory keeping easier (and it totally has made it easier).  The papers are from Chelle’s Creations – What a Hoot kit and the fonts are Veteran’s Typewriter, SMD Niki & my own handwriting.

Here are my pages – kept pretty simple this week (well I usually do but these seem even more simple than usual):

Did you include something about Whitney Houston on your pages? We grew up listening to her music – and was tragic news to hear of her death.

{Thursday Tutorial} Candy Cover

Hey everyone -- Heather (isaacsmom) here. Today I have a tutorial using Krisi's Candy Covers Volume 1. - which is new this week. I absolutely love this little project -- it is perfect for a last minute gift for Valentine's Day!

I used Krisi's Candy Covers Volume 1 -- you can find it here.

and the kit I used is Techno Love by Chelle's Creations:

I first opened the Candy Cover template in PSE 9 and clipped the papers I chose to the template. Then I printed them on my printer. I chose to use Epson Premium Matte Presentation Paper.

I also went ahead and gathered the supplies I need for this project: tic tacs, cutterbee scissors, red tape, scoring tool (not pictured) and miscellaneous ribbon.

Next, I cut out all of the items. You will notice that I also printed a few hearts from the Techno Love kit to use as an embellishment on the front of my candy cover.

Next I used my score tool to score the lines on the cutouts.

Then I added a small strip of red line tape to the back of the tic tac box to adhere it to the candy cover.

Then I used some ribbon to tie up these cute candy covers. For the bow, I used a piece of ribbon about 18" long. For the simple knot, I used a piece of ribbon about 10" long. Lastly, I used some red line tape to adhere the circles and hearts to the front. At this point, you could use anything you wanted to embelish the front -- a button, word art, etc -- the possibilities are endless!

So simple! And now I have the perfect gifts for my son to give his teachers at school for Valentines Day!

I hope you have fun creating your own projects! Please link me up in the comments section if you try out this product! I'd love to see your finished creation!

{Wacky Wednesday} World Wide Web Tip

f3

Do people still call it the World Wide Web anymore? I think it is now just internet! Anyway I have a little tip that I learned recently that has changed the way I read blogs – especially when someone has pinned something on Pinterest to the whole blog and not just the one post.

Did you know you can…

Use F3 to search a webpage.  When you are on a webpage you can press F3 and it will pull up a dialog box that allows you to search that page.  This is great for everything from long webpages to specific items you are looking for, anything really.

Go ahead, you know you want to… try it out right now. neat huh.

{Project Life} Week 5

I can hardly believe the first week of February is OVER! Time is sure flying by. I head back to work tomorrow after being off since the 2nd of January when I got appendicitis and have my appendix removed. The girls will need some time to adjust I think, but dad will do awesome – as always.

Here are my pages for this week. I really planned to get an early start on them and started placing the pictures I thought I wanted to use onto the template as I had time, but alas… I didn’t make the time so it was never there.

Last Sunday I realized I was addicted to sugar… anyone else out there addicted to sugar? It was funny that later in the week they talked about the studies done and how they want to regular sugar like alcohol and tobacco. Anyway… back to the week – my week was rough those first few days, basically detoxing from the sugar. I am feeling great now and able to resist temptation – even the cupcake on the counter or the ice cream we the family had for a treat tonight.

Here are my pages…

Now… show me your digital pages!  THANK YOU to everyone who linked up last week. Let’s spread the word.

{Monday Mix} Hand Sanitizer - Free Valentine Printable

Sorry this is coming to you a little late in the day… but I wanted to get this freebie printable together for you.  Be sure to stop back later tonight to see this weeks Project Life and link up your own digital Project Life pages.

This is what my 2nd grader is going to be giving out for Valentine’s Day this year, hand sanitizers from Bath & Body Works with these cute tags on them.

krisiskreations_val_preview

Want your own?  Sure thing. I made up a set of printables – two different actually. One for boys & one for girls.  I kept them as simple circles so you can use a 2” circle punch (scalloped or regular) to make them quicker. Each sheet includes 12 tags on each one.  There is a large area around each middle to give some “oops” coverage! Simply cut them out and punch a hole – we used a heart hole. Before you get them tied on have your little one sign the back of them.

If you missed my new releases this week, it included a set of tags and a handle box which would be perfect for bigger valentine gifts.
